[Clas_offline] CLASWEB migration status... NOT going live this morning!

All,
Stepan pointed out a problem with the online logbook yesterday that I do not
yet have resolved. This prevents me from putting the new system into
production this morning as I had hoped. I will post further updates as I
make progress on this issue. Hopefully, I can get it resolved shortly. The
problem stems from a very old tomcat configuration on the original clasweb
that I set up for this ages ago. Since that time, tomcat has changed a lot,
and it's interface to apache is now done very differently. As I work on this
problem, the logbook application may temporarily show other problems and the
claswebnew server may be unavailable intermittently as I troubleshoot and
experiment.
Additionally, there is currently a dependence in many scripts on a locally
developed perl module called "Pezca" that is compiled and installed into the
content area for the web server (in
/group/clas/www/clasweb/htbin/PERL_CPAN/lib/site_perl/. This module is built
and installed for Perl 5.6.x. The current server is running Perl 5.8.7 (from
/apps/bin/perl on RHEL5). This missing library is causing problems for
several scripts.
I have had reports of a few problems that HAVE been fixed -
1. No access to logbook from offsite - resolved
2. Links to directory listings like rungroups and e1 - resolved
3. Missing CTime perl module - resolved
I think these are all the problems I've seen so far. I still expect to see
problems related to the name difference (claswebnew vs. clasweb), and file
ownerships (httpd vs. apache) that I really won't be able to identify and
address until the system goes into production (fixing them now for the new
server will just break them for the original server).
Thanks for the feedback so far. Please continue to report problems not
mentioned above.
Marty
