Hello Nikolai,
For documentation, the by now very old GSIM pages do still exist at https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__nuclear.unh.edu_-7Emaurik_gsim-5Finfo.shtml&d=DwIFaQ&c=lz9TcOasaINaaC3U7FbMev2lsutwpI4--09aP8Lu18s&r=JZv5iMEnDJ2QmivBR85Xpq7MFx_nBqny4wIuPLRBbRI&m=p4UAYhsG8eyoiWgD_pCPcn02Pj7cd6k-ctJKlcCTI_w&s=G0Edc849n6PYs-BHRFHDyBOOhdElM6dOVpfaFTVhQb0&e=
Note that some external links, especially relating to GEANT3 documentation, are expired and you will need to google if there are new ones available.
Sorry, I don’t have a bash setup that will work and has everything setup for you. I don’t know if someone else can help you there.
One of the big issues with running GEANT3 code in 64-bit machines has been that GEANT3 inherently is not a 64-bit code. The code did a lot of things that are very bad hacks (storing C pointers in Fortran variables) that made it difficult to work on anything other than 32-bit CPUs. Some of these were fixed, but there is no guarantee that all of them have. I haven’t run GSIM myself for quite a long time, so I don’t know about the current state of running it on 64-bit machines. You can try running it in a 32-bit VM and see if that works better.
Best regards,
Maurik
