Dear Authors of phi paper,

I have to admit that my overall impression of the paper is not very positive, I don't know how did it pass through Ad Hoc review. The main two reasons to this impression are the lack of any theoretical interpretation (I guess requested in our Bylaw) and ignorance of all previous CLAS results (and these are many) on phi-production (they are cited, but not shown).

Some minor suggestions:

1) use Log(X) in Figs.1 and 13,

2) use Log(Y) and superimpose subfigures in Figs.3, 4 and 5,

3) in page 4, second paragraph you mention that chi^2 is high because of small statistics, while I would expect the opposite,

4) fits in Fig.7 are very arbitrary and as the result in Fig.13 the maximum cross section shows unphysical fluctuations,

5) I cannot even imagine for which purpose Figs.11 and 12 could be included in the paper.

Best Regards,
                Mikhail.
