[Cst_pnt] System Outages starting at 5:00pm Tonight

Good Morning Everyone!

The system patches and updates tonight will have some direct impact to your ability to access Costpoint…  Remote access to Costpoint will be impacted, in addition to potential loss of connectivity to the server or other folders/services during the network outage….  Please plan to be out of Costpoint by 5:00pm tonight and plan to also potentially lose access to your drives and other services after 5:00pm as well…  Key areas identified in the memo include:


·         There will be a VPN outage while the server is upgraded.

·         There may be some network outages while network switches and routers are updated.

·         There will be an outage for the VDI environment while the servers are updated.  The VDI environment will be back up no later than 7pm.

Please do not forget to reboot your computers…it may take several reboots to apply all the patches…  Thanks for your understanding, have a great day!

Reminders for:

  *   Reminder of CST Outages During Maintenance on Tuesday, Jan 18, 2022
  *   JLab move to ZoomGov (End of service for BlueJeans)

Reminder of CST Outages During Maintenance on Tuesday, Jan 18th:

There will be a maintenance period on Tuesday, Jan 18th from 5-10pm.  During this time, the following outages and updates will occur:

  *   The O: (group) and M: (sgroup) file servers will be upgraded. No outage is expected.
  *   The K: (site) and L: (apps) file servers are also being upgraded. No outage is expected.
  *   There will be a VPN outage while the server is upgraded.
  *   There may be some network outages while network switches and routers are updated.
  *   There will be an outage for the VDI environment while the servers are updated.  The VDI environment will be back up no later than 7pm.
  *   There will also be short service outages overnight, while the underlying servers are rebooted to fully install all updates. All services will be back online no later than 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19.
  *   Linux and Windows patches will be released to all managed Linux systems and servers. Plan on rebooting your Linux or Windows desktop no later than Friday, Jan. 21, to fully install all patches.

The laboratory acquired Zoom for Government (ZoomGov) for videoconferencing and webinars to replace BlueJeans.  Our contract with BlueJeans ends this month on January 31, 2022.  Training sessions were held in December and were recorded for those who couldn’t attend.
