The National Security Directorate (NSD) of the Pacific Northwest 
National Laboratory (PNNL) currently has outstanding career 
opportunities for nuclear physicists or engineers to lead research and 
development efforts involving radiation detection and related 
instruments and systems.  The successful candidate should have an 
aptitude or demonstrated track record of building and leading research 
programs, a growing national reputation, and the ability to work within 
and build dynamic, multi-disciplinary teams. These positions will 
include both experimental and computational studies, with applications 
including national and homeland security, nuclear nonproliferation, and 
radiation detection material characterization. Both independently and in 
collaboration with project teams the position will support a range of US 
Government and Private Clients. The research group seeking to fill this 
position supports a number of critical national security missions along 
with missions relating to environmental monitoring and restoration and 
industrial technology development.  Projects within the research group 
work range from highly applied projects in support of U.S. Government to 
fundamental projects in the areas of nuclear science and novel

a Ph.D. in Physics, Engineering, or related field.  We are currently 
interested in applicants at all levels of experience including 
candidates finishing their Ph.D. or postdoc position.  A competitive 
salary and benefits package will be offered.  Candidates must be able to 
obtain a security clearance, which in turn requires U. S. Citizenship.  
PNNL, located in Richland, WA, is operated and managed by Battelle for 
the U. S. Department of Energy.
