August 24 Briefs Excerpts:
South Connector Road Re-Opens
Mortenson Construction has finished the curbing work around CEBAF Center Circle. The South Connector Road (directly in front of CEBAF Center) is now open.
Call Data Reporting Feature Now Available
Landline telephone usage at the lab is now tracked in an online system. JLab staff and users with an assigned telephone extension can view their call details and those of their staff (but not others). This application allows you to view and search calls and sort them by certain criteria (duration, cost and etc). Not all details may be available for all calls because of phone system limitations. This application replaces the monthly paper usage reports. As a reminder, long distance usage should be restricted to lab business. For further information, contact the IT Division Helpdesk. United Way School Tools Drive Ends Tomorrow
The United Way School Tools Drive ends Thursday, Aug. 25. Collection boxes for donations of school supplies are located in the VARC, MCC, CEBAF Center and ARC lobbies. New school supplies for students of any grade level may be placed in the boxes. Appropriate items include pens, pencils, student scissors, crayons, spiral notebooks, 3-ring binders, binder paper, pocket folders, rulers, protractor/compass sets, etc. For more information, contact Joshua Cameron, x7628.
Come and Get It! Decade of Jefferson Lab Physics Published
More than 2,000 physicists have conducted research at JLab, slowly adding to mankind's knowledge of the smallest building blocks of the visible universe. Now, the first comprehensive review of this body of research has been made available in the volume, "New Insights into the Structure of Matter: The First Decade of Science at Jefferson Lab." Copies of the print publication are now available on the brochures table in the CEBAF Center lobby. For quantities of the publication, contact Douglas Higinbotham at doug at jlab.org.
Recent Additions to JLab Lost & Found
A small chain necklace with a cross was found in the Residence Facility restroom after the JAG Luau on Aug. 17, and a black sports wristwatch was found in the CEBAF Center auditorium after Sen. Warner's Town Hall meeting on Aug. 18. Both items have been turned in to Lost & Found at the CEBAF Center reception desk. To claim either item, be prepared to describe it to the receptionist. Descriptions of Lost & Found items can be found in the JLab Classifieds. Items may be turned in or claimed on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. JLab Classified Marketplace: https://misportal.jlab.org/ul/apps/classifieds/
