Dear Colleague,
This is the second circular on the workshop entitled *Partons in
Nucleons and Nuclei*:
PINAN11
to be held in
Marrakech Morocco, September 26-30, 2011
You will find in this circular important details about the registration
to this workshop, the lodging accommodations and transportation from
airport to the hotel site and back.
PINAN11 is the second workshop following the first one held in Yerevan,
Armenia in 2010 entitled “Transverse Partonic Structure of Nucleons”.
This new meeting expands on the previous one as it focuses on the
experimental program planned for Jefferson Lab 12 GeV Upgrade, outlining
the necessary experimental, theoretical as well as computational support
to enhance our understanding of transverse momentum, spin and spatial
structure of hadrons and nuclei in terms of their basic constituents
namely quarks and gluons.
The goal of this meeting is to review the present experimental results
from worldwide laboratories active in the field of QCD through hadronic
and nuclear physics studies and to promote extensive discussions on how
best to pursue these studies in the future. Discussion of theoretical
guidance and challenges in this endeavor will be explored widely to
offer a clear path for relevant and novel studies in the JLab 12 GeV era
and beyond with a possible Electron-Ion Collider.
This meeting to be held in Morocco is organized by Argonne National Lab
and sponsored by Argonne National Lab, Duke University, Jefferson Lab,
Jefferson Science Associates, Massachusetts Institute of Technology,
Mississippi State University, Rutgers University, Universidad Tecnica
Federico Santa Maria (Chile) and Temple University.
*Format:*
The format of this week-long meeting is similar to that of a workshop
with only plenary sessions. If you are interested in participating to
the workshop please submit an abstract in the workshop website
(http://quarks.temple.edu/~partons
<http://quarks.temple.edu/%7Epartons>). With a view towards the future
activities in this field, Principal Investigators are strongly
encouraged to consider supporting their students’ participation.
*Conference fee:*
An early bird conference fee of $450 for each participant and $400 for
each student will have to be paid at the registration time using a
credit card only. After August 15, 2011 the conference fee will increase
to $500 for each participant and $450 for each student. Please be aware
that the conference fee payment will not be possible at the conference site.
*Lodging, Transportation and Registration information:*
The workshop will be held at the /Albatros garden hotel in Marrackech/.
The registration is open through the workshop website,
http://quarks.temple.edu/~partons <http://quarks.temple.edu/%7Epartons>
, and will remain open until September 5th, 2011. During your
registration, you will be asked to give information on your needs for
lodging, transportation and additional social activities. A touristic
agency negotiated excellent prices for the hotel with options including
meals and they are blocking a number of rooms in the conference hotel.
Please do not book your hotel room directly with the hotel since it will
be several times more expensive than what we offer. /However, we do
//request you cooperation in registering early to have an accurate
account of participants and to secure these prices./
Please make sure to fill out your needs while registering to benefit
from all special promotions. Once we have your information we will
communicate it to the touristic agency and will send you later the
confirmation. You will pay the lodging and other expenses directly to
the agency once in Morocco.
*Abstract Submission of Invited and Contributed Papers:*
We strongly recommend the submission of an abstract while registering. A
booklet of including all abstracts will be available at the start of the
conference.
*Physics Topics:*
· Nucleon electromagnetic structure
· Parton distributions in nucleons and nuclei
· Tomography of nucleons and nuclei
· Nucleon spin and quarks angular momentum
· Quark-quark and quark-gluon correlations in nucleons and nuclei
· Hadronization, color transparency and short range correlations
*Program Agenda:*
Preliminary agenda will be posted in the website in a few weeks time.
