This is the first announcement of the 4th International Workshop
"High Energy Physics in the LHC Era", January 4-10 2012, and the "3rd
International Workshop for the Design of the ANDES Underground
Laboratory", January 11-12, to take place in Valparaíso, Chile. These
workshops will be held at the picturesque campus of the Technical
University Federico Santa Maria. For more information and
registration, please visit the website:
http://www.fis.utfsm.cl/hep2012.

The goal of the "HEP in the LHC Era" workshop is to bring together
young and senior scientists, theorists and experimentalists, to
review recent progress in High Energy Physics. The program of the
Workshop will address a broad range of topics covering the main areas
of high-energy particle and nuclear physics, and several topics of
current interest: recent LHC and Tevatron experimental results; Dark
Matter searches; Neutrino physics; High-Energy QCD; Heavy ion
collisions; phenomenology of AdS/CFT; astroparticles, and other
topics. We strongly encourage presentations of physics results from
experimental HEP labs (CERN, RHIC, HERA, JLAB, Tevatron, etc.) and
also expect that theory talks will go beyond the scope of the physics
from these facilities. We kindly invite and encourage you to deliver
a talk at the workshop on one of the program topics.

This event will be followed by a two-day workshop on the ANDES
Underground Laboratory, dedicated to the design of this newly planned
Underground facility and the Physics and other scientific prospects
for the Lab. Even though these are separate workshops, you are
welcome to participate in both.

The location of the workshop offers its own unique backdrop. The port
of Valparaíso, a UNESCO World Heritage City, is famous for its hills,
late 19th century architecture, and public elevators that lead to
spectacular views of the bay. Neighboring Viña del Mar offers long
beaches and beautiful gardens. You may even consider coming a few
days prior to the workshop to celebrate the New Year with the
continent`s largest fireworks display.

We look forward to your positive response.

With kind regards,
the Organizing Committee
