January 4 Briefs Excerpts:
Section of CEBAF Blvd. Closed Jan. 4-5, 2012
A section of CEBAF Blvd - the two-lane road through the middle of the Accelerator Site - is closed Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 4-5, for the delivery and installation of equipment to CEBAF's Central Helium Liquefier, Building 8. The section of road and sidewalk - from about the southwest corner of Building 87 to about the front door of Building 89 - will be closed. For more information, see the announcement: http://wwwold.jlab.org/memo/2011CEBAF_Blvd_Closed.html
Resolving ES&H Concerns
To ensure the welfare and productivity of its workforce, JLab has several mechanisms for employees, or anyone who comes into contact with the lab, to report issues potentially affecting the safety of workers, visitors, lab neighbors or the environment without fear of retaliation or reprisal. ES&H Manual Chapter 2310 lists a variety of mechanisms for resolving and reporting ES&H concerns and for preventing similar concerns from occurring in the future. See the full version of the Briefs for the full announcement.
Fire Academy Graduation to Fill CEBAF Center Parking Lot
The Tidewater Regional Fire Training Academy will hold its graduation ceremony and reception Thursday evening, Jan. 5, in the CEBAF Center auditorium and lobby. Fire Academy leaders and cadets will begin arriving to set up for the event Thursday afternoon. Shortly after 5 p.m., the cadets’ family members will begin arriving. The event will last until about 8:30 p.m. If you normally park in the main CEBAF Center parking lot, you might want to park your vehicle toward the back of the lot (east and north ends), behind the EEL (Bldg. 90), or in the Rutherford Road parking lot on the north (cafeteria) side of CEBAF Center after lunch on Thursday to avoid congestion from incoming traffic to the main CEBAF Center parking lot.
Onsite Blood Drive Set for Jan. 27
The next American Red Cross Blood Drive is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 27, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in CEBAF Center Room F113. New and repeat donors are encouraged to attend. Appointments and walk-ins are welcome. Contact Johnie Banks, x7539 or jbanks at jlab.org, to schedule an appointment.
Rate Restructuring for SURA Residence Facility
The SURA Residence Facility, located adjacent to JLab, is open to all lab researchers, users, guests, collaborators, business associates and their families. The facility's rates will change on April 1. If you have a blanket purchase order on file with the facility that states an authorized rate, contact Melissa Hicks as soon as possible to update. For questions, contact Rose Durham or Melissa Hicks at 757-223-1167 or resfac at sura.org. The new rates and more information can be found online: http://wwwold.jlab.org/memo/SURAresFacRate.html
