*Allowing Extra Time, Following Procedure - Critical to Visa Renewal
Process*
****
If you are a Jefferson Lab foreign national staff member, user or
student, with a non-immigrant visa status (F-1, B-1, J-1, H-1B, O-1),
you have a visa stamp that includes an expiration date in your passport.
It is very important that you keep track of your visa expiration date
and your personal and professional travel plans.
If or when you start the process to renew your visa, you must begin well
in advance of the expiration date and coordinate closely with the
Jefferson Lab Registration/International Services office and your
supervisory structure (from your supervisor up through your division's
Associate Director).
For important information about the visa renewal process, please
carefully read the linked memo
<https://www.jlab.org/memo/allow-extra-time-follow-procedure-critical-visa-renewal-process>.
All JLab individuals in a non-immigrant visa status, and their
supervisors are asked to read the linked memo (posted at:
https://www.jlab.org/memo/allow-extra-time-follow-procedure-critical-visa-renewal-process)
Failure to follow the visa renewal process can result in you being
refused re-entry into the U.S., as well as lost work days, leave without
pay and extended and unanticipated travel expenses for you, and problems
with staffing and project completion deadlines for Jefferson Lab.
Thank you for your attention to this important issue.
Best regards,
Sue Ewing
Registration/International Services Administrator
Jefferson Lab
