Microsoft announced the End-of-Life for Windows XP systems some time
ago. Since last fall, the CNI group has been working with staff and
users with XP systems to upgrade them to Windows 7 in anticipation of
this date. Microsoft will stop supporting and providing security patches
for Windows XP after Tuesday, April 8. Therefore, starting on April 8,
the Computer Center will begin quarantining Windows XP systems on the
guest network. This is being done to mitigate the risk to the laboratory
from Windows XP vulnerabilities after its end-of-life date.

If your computer is running XP, and it cannot be upgraded before the
deadline, you will need to contact the cyber security team either:
- via the CCPR system, with "Windows XP" in the subject field :
https://mis.jlab.org/mis/ccpr/ccpr_user/ccpr_new_user_request.cfm?CCPR%25A0New%25A0Request
- or by sending an email to helpdesk at jlab.org with "Windows XP" in the
subject line.

If you have any questions or concerns, contact the IT Division Helpdesk,
helpdesk at jlab.org or x7155.
