Subject: Electron Ion Collider (EIC) Users Meeting at Stony Brook, June 24-27, 2014
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
The next Electron Ion Collider (EIC) meeting will be held at Stony Brook University's
Wang Center from June 24-27, 2014. Please mark your calendars, we hope to see you there.
The aim of the meeting is to bring all enthusiasts and users of the future Electron
Ion Collider together to initiate discussions and activities which will help get the
EIC through the Nuclear Science Advisory Committee's next Long Range Planning exercise.
The presentations at this meeting will highlight:
a) the progress made in the past few years on sharpening the science case presented
in the recent EIC White Paper (arXiv: 1212.1701),
b) the status of the accelerator and various detector designs at BNL and Jefferson Lab
c) open question being pursued as part of the machine and detector R&D programs
and possible timelines for realizations.
We also plan presentations highlighting opportunities for technical and
intellectual contributions from communities within and outside the US. These are
essential for the success of this project.
A webpage including the program, registration and logistical details is being setup
and will be ready soon. In the meanwhile, please keep the dates of this meeting you your
calendar, we hope to see you at Stony Brook in June. Please feel free to forward this
email to anyone who you think will be interested in attending this meeting. Thank you.
