December 10 Briefs Excerpts: 

IT Maintenance Day Set for Tuesday, Dec. 15, 5-10 p.m. 
The IT Division is planning a maintenance period for 5-10 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15. During this maintenance period, all MIS applications will be unavailable while patches are installed and the systems are rebooted. All MIS applications should be back up and available by 10 p.m. Also, all Common User Environment-managed web severs and login servers will be rebooted to finalize patch installations. A short incoming email outage will also occur while the email servers are updated. This email outage will be short and will last no more than 15 minutes. All incoming email will be queued on remote servers and delivered when service is restored. Finally, Windows and Linux patches will be released to all CUE desktops. Plan on rebooting your desktop to finalize patch installation no later than Dec. 18. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the IT Division Helpdesk at helpdesk at jlab.org or x7155. 

On-Site Safety Shoe Vendor to Change 
Procurement staff is working to engage a new safety shoe vendor to provide safety shoes on-site, since the lab’s former vendor can no longer provide this service. If you need information on purchasing safety shoes for work at Jefferson Lab, contact Renee Carter, x7954 or carter at jlab.org. 

Jefferson Lab Travel Card Fraud Alerts Offered 
U.S. Bank cardholders can elect to receive a real-time fraud alert via SMS text and/or email when suspicious activity has been detected on their Jefferson Lab Travel Credit Card. For more information, contact Carol Kinsey at kinsey at jlab.org. 

Mobile Mammography Unit to Visit Jefferson Lab 
The Sentara Mobile Mammography Unit will be here at Jefferson Lab on Jan. 8, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The American Cancer Society recommends that women with an average risk of breast cancer should undergo regular screening mammography starting at age 45. It only takes 15 minutes! This service is open to all employees as well as their family members or friends, as personal health insurances will be billed. BlueJeans Videoconferencing Service Restored 
The BlueJeans videoconferencing system is now back online and operating normally. As a reminder, if you have any questions or concerns regarding videoconferencing, contact the IT Division Helpdesk at x7155 or helpdesk at jlab.org. 

Holiday Party for Jefferson Lab Children and the Young at Heart 
The JAG Holiday Party is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 12, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the CEBAF Center lobby. All employees, contractors, users and their children are invited. Families are encouraged to bring a new, unopened toy to be donated to a local charity. Get your picture taken with Santa Claus, who plans to drop by with the snow dogs, Nikko and Tally. (Owners Dan and Kim Young are members of the JAG Dog Training Club, and Nikko and Tally are trained service dogs). Come and enjoy holiday-themed games, crafts and light snacks. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers Needed for JAG Holiday Party on Saturday, Dec. 12 
Volunteers are needed to help with the JAG Holiday Party as Craft-Table Monitors, Bounce House Attendants, Game Helpers, Snack Area Elves and Santa's Helpers. Adults and older children planning to attend the party are asked to consider signing up to help for one hour during the party. Toys for Wes' Wish 
This year, Jefferson Lab will participate in the Wes’ Wish 2015: Piles of Smiles for a Child with Cancer Toy Drive to benefit Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters (CHKD). Collection boxes are available near the main entrances of CEBAF Center, MCC, SSC, ARC and TED Buildings. JAG is accepting new, unwrapped toy donations (stuffed animals are not accepted) for children 0-19 years old. The toy donations will be delivered to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters pediatric oncology patients on Dec. 14. Celebrate the Holidays with Your Creative Decorations 
The JAG is sponsoring a Holiday Office Door/Cubicle Decorating Contest. Prizes will be awarded to Best Decorated, Most Original and Silliest. All employees, users and contractors with an office or cubicle may enter the contest (individuals or groups). Judging will take place Friday, Dec. 18. Winning entries will be announced Monday, Dec. 21. Decorating materials must be fire resistant and only UL-approved lighting/electronics may be used. No unwrapped food items are allowed. To enter, email JAG Chair Mary Jo Bailey at mbailey at jlab.org by COB Dec. 16. Include your name(s), building number, office/cube location and a contact number. TIAA-CREF 401(k) GSRA Open Enrollment Ends Dec. 17 
The 401(k) Group Supplemental Retirement Annuity (GSRA) Open Enrollment for Calendar Year 2016 will be offered through Dec. 17. All elections will be reflected in the Jan. 15, 2016, paycheck. If you wish to contribute more or less than the 5 percent default contribution, or opt-out of this program, you must enter your preferences in the on-line system no later than 5 p.m. on Dec. 17. If you do not enter your preferences in the on-line system prior to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17, you will automatically be enrolled in the default employee 5 percent contribution plan that is based on your current salary.
