Congestion in CEBAF Center Parking Lot This Evening 
The Newport News Fire Department will hold its annual recognition ceremony and reception in the CEBAF Center auditorium and lobby on the evening of Thursday , Jan. 8. Fire Department personnel will begin arriving around 4 p.m. to set up for the event. Shortly after 5 p.m. the firefighters’ family members will begin arriving. The event will begin at 6 p.m. and last until about 8:30 p.m. Between the hours of 4 and 6 p.m. you may notice some congestion in the main CEBAF Center parking lot (east of CC). If you wish to avoid the congestion in the main CC lot from 4-6, you might want to park in the lot running between CEBAF Center, Bldg. 12, and the Support Service Center, Bldg. 28. 

Tornado Warning Siren Test Set for Friday , Jan. 9 
Jefferson Lab's tornado warning siren will undergo its monthly operational test at 10:30 a.m. on Friday , Nov. 7. Don't respond to the siren; this is a test of the siren system and not a personnel response exercise. Individuals planning to be in the Central Materials Storage Area (where the siren is located) while the test is taking place must have with them and wear two layers of hearing protection. 

TIAA-CREF Individual Counseling Available by Appointment 
TIAA-CREF will be offering additional Individual Counseling Sessions in the coming months. The consultant will be available to discuss how to help you achieve your financial goals by investing in financial solutions such as mutual funds, brokerage, life insurance and annuities. Sessions will be offered on Jan. 15, Feb. 19, March 11 , March 12 , April 16 and May 14 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. in Support Service Center room 41a. To schedule an appointment with a TIAA-CREF Individual Consultant to discuss your plan and options for managing your retirement savings, call TIAA-CREF at (800) 732-8353 , Monday through Friday , 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (ET). 

Red Cross Blood Drive Scheduled for Tuesday , Jan. 27 
The next American Red Cross Blood Drive will take place Tuesday , Jan. 27, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in CEBAF Center room F113. New and repeat donors are encouraged to attend. All those who donate will be entered into a drawing for prizes from the American Red Cross. To schedule an appointment, visit redcrossblood.org and enter Sponsor Code: TJNAF. Get Involved in Community STEM Events 
Jefferson Lab has received several new requests to participate in evening science, technology, engineering and mathematics events at schools located throughout the local area, from Virginia Beach to Gloucester to New Kent. The events vary from talking to small groups of students about Jefferson Lab, to conducting a simple activity for small groups at a table or booth, to judging science fairs. Science Education is looking for people to help out at evening events near their homes. If you would like to volunteer to help out at one or two of these events this winter, email Telesha Brown at telesha at jlab.org. 

JSA Accepting Applications for 2015-16 Graduate Fellowships 
Jefferson Science Associates is currently accepting applications for graduate fellowships at Jefferson Lab for the 2015-16 academic year. The JSA/JLab Graduate Fellowship Program is supported by the JSA Initiatives Fund. FY2015 funds are available for up to seven fellowship awards. Application packages should be submitted via email to jsaprograms at sura.org with the subject line "JSA Graduate Fellowships" by Feb. 20.
