THIRD AND FINAL CIRCULAR
Dear colleagues,
This is the 3rd and also the final circular for the 7th Workshop on Hadron Physics in
China and Opportunities Worldwide to be held at Duke Kunshan University (DKU), Kunshan,
China, from 3-7 August 2015.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
Hadron Physics has drawn great interests from the Chinese nuclear and high-energy physics
communities and has been one of the main physics goals at the major facilities (BESIII at IHEP,
CEE/HIAF at IMP, ...) in China. At the same time, the Chinese collaborations are playing
increasingly important roles at the international hadron physics facilities (Jefferson Lab,
RHIC, FAIR, J-PARC, ...), in particular, at the 12 GeV energy upgraded Jefferson Lab in US,
which will provide a broad range of opportunities for frontier research in hadronic physics.
Furthermore, Electron-Ion Colliders (EIC) have been proposed in US and in Europe as
the next generation of QCD frontier. In China, an EIC at HIAF facility has also been proposed
by the Institute of Modern Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to provide a powerful
precision microscope for hadron physics study. In light of these new developments, the 7th
workshop will be held at the Duke Kunshan University (DKU), located in the city of Kunshan
in Jiangsu province, China during August 3-7, 2015, to discuss the current status, to promote
further development of hadron physics in China and to further enhance collaborations between
the Chinese and the international hadron physics community.
This workshop will be co-hosted by Duke Kunshan University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University,
and co-chaired by Jian-Ping Chen (Jefferson Lab), Haiyan Gao (Duke University and Duke Kunshan
University), and Xiangdong Ji (University of Maryland and Shanghai Jiao Tong University).

REGISTRATION
Participants please register at the workshop via the IHEP Indico system:
http://indico.ihep.ac.cn/event/4783/registration/. The deadline for registration and hotel
reservation is 20 July 2015. To finalize the registration, please directly pay the registration
fee online at: http://www.physics.sjtu.edu.cn/hadron2015/node/36. Please notice that the on-site
payment by CASH will be possible on Sunday afternoon, and on Monday morning, from 8:30AM to 11:00AM,
at the registration desk.
The regular and student registration fee is inclusive of conference participation, conference bag,
coffee breaks, meals, water-town excursion, banquet and reception.
SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM
The main topics of the workshop are:
Spin Physics, 3-D Nucleon Structure (TMDs and GPDs), Form Factors, Spectroscopy,
Short Range Correlations, Low Energy Test of Standard Model and BSM Physics,
Future Facilities and Detectors, and Others

ACCOMMODATION
We have special rates for this workshop at Lamborghini City Center Hotel and Fairmont Yangcheng Lake:

can be made by the Local Organizers once you fill out the required information when you register online.
For the room type please refer to: a double room is one-bed room with two breakfasts, and a twin room is
a two-bed room with two breakfasts. If you bring children with you to the workshop, the following
information may be useful: it is possible to have one more bed each room with cost: additional breakfast
for kids under 120cm (height) is free, 90 RMB for kids between 120-140cm, and 159RMB for above 140cm.
TRANSPORTATION
The city of Kunshan can be reached by plane to Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) or Shanghai
Hongqiao International Airport (SHA); and by High Speed Train to Kunshan South Station.
i. Plane: SHA has good connections with domestic and also major international destinations; while
PVG has better connections with international destinations. SHA is located closer to Kunshan than PVG,
hence, we encourage attendees fly to SHA if possible. Next to SHA locates Hongqiao Rail Station, from where
there are frequent High Speed Trains to Kunshan. Airport shuttle bus service is also convenient, buses go
directly to Kunshan Terminal from PVG and SHA, followed by a 20 minutes’ ride by taxi to Lamborghini hotel,
and a 40 minutes’ ride by taxi to Fairmont hotel.
ii. Train: we highly encourage domestic attendees to take the High Speed Train to Kunshan. Train
station is located in the south city center, which is a 20 minutes’ drive to hotel or DKU.
iii. Please follow the official taxi sign if you will take a taxi at airports and train stations.
iv. We will have a few scheduled Pickups at Kunshan South Station and Kunshan Terminal to DKU. The
schedule will be provided to participants later on. If your arrival time does not fall into our scheduled
pickups, please take a taxi.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
1. VISA
As far as we know, a tourist visa (L-type visa) is the easiest type to apply for. But should you need a F-type
visa, please contact Ms. Joy Ting Yang at ting.yang at dku.edu.cn, and if you need an invitation letter to the
workshop for other type of entrance permission, please contact Ms. Yijun Gu at yijun.gu at dku.edu.cn. More
information can be found at the website regarding what information one needs to provide to Ms. Yang for the visa
invitation letter.
2. WEATHER
The late summer of Kunshan is hot but not humid. Rains are expected. The temperature would be 28-36℃/ 83-97℉.
Please pack an umbrella.
3. SOCIAL EVENTS
Monday August 3, 6:30 PM – 8PM: Welcome Reception at DKU
Thursday August 6, 12:30PM – 5PM: Excursion to Jinxi, one of the three water town heritages in Kunshan. Jinxi
is a town of a long history and has architectures built in the Song Dynasty (A.D. 960 – 1279). It can be reached
in 45 minutes.

3:00PM, free time for sightseeing/ optional trip to Ruins of Ancient Kilns
