Dear Colleagues,
The Neutrino Scattering Theory Experiment Collaboration (NuSTEC) School
on Neutrino Nucleus Scattering Physics, to be held at Fermilab 7-15
November 2017, is now open for application.
The primary goal of the NuSTEC School is to provide a focused
introduction to both the nuclear and particle physics of
neutrino-nucleon/nucleus scattering, a topic of increasing importance
for the current and future neutrino oscillation experiments. The
lectures will be delivered by internationally recognized experts in the
field and will cover such topics as strong and electroweak interactions
in nuclei, methods for calculating scattering in nuclei, final state
interactions, connections with electron scattering, approaches to
estimating scattering systematic uncertainties in oscillation
experiments, and monte carlo simulation methods and tools. A more
complete description of the courses may be found on the School web page.
The training program will be 9 days long including a free day at the
halfway point. The training is based on immersion with close
participant-lecturer contact. A training day will consist of four 1-hour
lectures and a 1.5 hour long recitation session encouraging
questions/discussions on all of the day's lectures. Although this
training is ideally suited for experimental and theoretical advanced
graduate students and young postdocs, many more-senior researchers may
find these lectures informative and are welcome to participate.
A registration fee of $350 for all participants will cover lunches and
coffee breaks as well as general supplies and transportation support.
For participants needing a hotel, $750 covers 10 nights in a shared
double room (single available for additional fee) as well as breakfast.
Primarily for those staying in the hotel, NuSTEC offers a limited number
of partial support grants. If you would like to apply for this support,
please follow the instructions on the application form.
For further information, including details of the planned lectures and
application procedures, please refer to the School website:
http://nustec.fnal.gov/school2017/
The application deadline for those needing a hotel and / or applying for
financial aid is 15 September, otherwise the deadline is 15 October.
Those applicants who will need to obtain a visa are encouraged to apply
as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
The NuSTEC School Organizers
