ACCELERATOR/EXPERIMENTAL NUCLEAR PHYSICS
National Academy of Sciences Posts Seminar on EIC Report
The National Academy of Sciences has posted the seminar of the public release of its “ Assessment of U.S.-Based Electron Ion Collider Science ” to Vimeo. The full report can also now be downloaded from the NASEM website.

THEORETICAL AND COMPUTATIONAL PHYSICS
In a new paper , the context, motivations and expected performance of a fixed-target program using the multi-TeV proton and ion beams at the Large Hadron Collider are reviewed. The possibilities offered by the use of the ALICE and LHCb detectors in fixed-target mode are also reviewed. According to the paper, the physics program at a fixed-target facility at the LHC can provide information about the high-x structure of hadrons, complementing the information that will be extracted from data collected in the Jefferson Lab 12 GeV program.

ESH&Q
When to Suspend Work for Safety
Before introducing a cryogen or gas into an area, it must be analyzed to determine whether the fluid or gas could create an Oxygen Deficiency Hazard (ODH). An online ODH Safety Review form is available for staff to calculate the oxygen displacement for any work area onsite. If the calculation results in an oxygen concentration below 18 percent, an ODH Risk Assessment is required. Instructions for completing the ODH Safety Review form can be found in Jefferson Lab ES&H Manual Chapter 6540T1 Oxygen Deficiency Hazard (ODH) Safety Review . For more information on the ODH program, contact Jennifer Williams or see Jefferson Lab ES&H Manual Chapter 6540 Oxygen Deficiency Hazard (ODH) Control Program .

COMPUTING
