*Dear Colleague,*

*Recent events in Japan have moved the International Linear Collider
project much closer to realization. The ruling government party has
recently created an ILC Coordination Council. The vision of the ILC is
of a project in the national interest, funded by a budget outside the
usual science and technology support, and to which Japan would
contribute a major share of the project cost, with international
participation. An anticipated step in the approval process is a report
from the Science Council of Japan on technical and environmental issues
- expected within a few weeks.*

*With the positive prospects for the launch of the ILC project, we
invite you and your colleagues to learn the details and the
opportunities it presents for new physics discoveries. This may be of
particular interest for junior faculty and postdocs.*

*The next worldwide conference on linear colliders, LCWS2018, will be
held October 22-26, 2018 on the campus of the University of Texas at
Arlington. We encourage you and/or your colleagues to attend this
important meeting to discuss a major collider future facility for high
energy physics.*
