Dear JLab Scientific Computing Users,
JLab is hosting the HOW2019 computing workshop March 18-22, including
joint meetings of the HEP Software Foundation, Open Science Grid, and
Worldwide LHC Computing Grid projects. It will also include 2 training
events for OSG, one for users and the second for running the OSG
services at a site.
The meeting is open to all interested parties -- see the annoucement
below for all the details.
Hope to see you here!

*Subject:* OSG All-Hands + WLCG/HSF workshop: Early registration open
thru Feb. 1
We are pleased to announce that registration is now available for the joint
HSF, Open Science Grid (OSG), and WLCG Workshop (HOW2019), including all of
the traditional OSG All-Hands Meeting. The workshop is 18-22 March 2019 at
the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab) in Newport News,
Virginia, United States. To register, visit:

This workshop brings together communities from the HSF, OSG and WLCG to
make progress on common challenges faced in HEP Software and Computing
in the next decade. Common plenary sessions will discuss how we solve
software and computing issues as an 'end-to-end' problem. In parallel
each community will have plenty of time to discuss plans in their area.
Scientific Organising Committee Ian Bird, CERN Michel Jouvin,
LAL-CNRS Simone Campana, CERN David Lange, Princeton University Tim...
There is a single registration fee for the workshop, regardless of how many
days are attended. The early registration fee is $200 through February 1,
increasing to $250 thereafter.
A basic block schedule is available in the Workshop Indico system:
https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Findico.cern.ch%2Fevent%2F759388%2Ftimetable%2F%2320190318&data=02%7C01%7C%7C2dbf6ade530a4feb58a908d68ab30aa5%7Cb4d7ee1f4fb34f0690372b5b522042ab%7C1%7C0%7C636848899583457176&sdata=AvYUnZ%2FbQYWTE8XaBbrfvWXlJAaWG7KvdsiZsM28K%2Bk%3D&reserved=0
Note that the overall schedule may still change a bit and that every effort
is being made to have all plenary sessions be broadly appealing. Everybody
is encouraged to attend as many days as schedules allow!
Also note extra OSG training events that are planned for the week but that
are not on the Indico schedule yet (probably, they will be on Thursday):
* The Campus Research team will provide training on running computational
work via the JLab submission server, with content for both new and
experienced OSG users.
* The Software Team will provide training on administering an OSG site,
including basic training on container technologies and new options for
deploying OSG services via container.

The OSG All-Hands Meeting brings together national and international
collaborators of all sizes, users, and staff for the purpose of sharing
news, ideas, resources, and best practices within the OSG community. As in
past meetings, there will be talks on OSG infrastructure and resources,
technology updates and future directions, science done on OSG, and the
state and exciting future of the OSG consortium of projects. Plus with the
co-located WLCG/HSF Workshop, there will be many talks and discussions
about the LHC projects and HEP software and computing in general.
Hope to see you there!
