SUBJECT: JLEIC Physics/Detector Group Appointments
CONTACT: Bob McKeown, bmck at jlab.org<mailto:bmck at jlab.org>, x6481
Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the appointment of three scientists to the Jefferson Lab EIC Physics/Detector Group as we enter a more active phase in the development of the science case and detector designs.

Douglas Higinbotham, Volker Burkert and Christian Weiss will join the effort as senior team members with significant expertise in EIC science, large acceptance detector simulations and construction to provide leadership for the local EIC group as well as the EIC Center at Jefferson Lab. Doug Higinbotham will act as the group leader to coordinate the EIC experimental effort.

We expect that this strengthened team will engage with EIC Users to provide experienced leadership for moving forward with EIC science and detector designs, beginning October 1, 2019.

Rik Yoshida will be joining Argonne National Laboratory in October as their High Energy Physics Division Director. We are thankful to Rik for his past leadership of the Jefferson Lab EIC Physics Team and wish him success in his new position.

Sincerely,
Bob McKeown
