[A.I. for Nuclear Physics Workshop]<https://www.jlab.org/conference/AI2020>

Jefferson Lab is pleased to host the A.I. for Nuclear Physics Workshop, held March 4-6, 2020, in Newport News, Virginia.

Preliminary workshop program now posted: Click Here<https://www.jlab.org/indico/event/357/timetable/#20200304>
(Indico Account Required)

Small interactive working groups will focus on several key areas, including:

  * Lattice QCD and other quantum field theories.
  *   Nuclear structure theory.
  * Accelerator, facility and detector operations.
  *   Accelerator science.
  * Experimental methods (PID, tracking, etc.).
  *   Event generation and simulation.
  *   Global analysis and fits.

The results of the workshop will be summarized in a report that will serve as a roadmap for A.I. future application and a guide to areas for possible collaboration.

The Southeastern Universities Research Association and Jefferson Lab are pleased to announce they are offering up to 25 travel grants of $1,500* to attend the A.I. for Nuclear Physics Workshop and pre-meeting Hack-A-Thon activities. Pre-Event Announcement
FREE Junior Scientists Hack-A-Thon, March 3, 2020
In order to foster growth and interest in applications of A.I. to the field of nuclear physics, Jefferson Lab<https://www.jlab.org/>, in conjunction with the University of Virginia's School of Data Science<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__datascience.virginia.edu_&d=DwMFaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=IwhXJpXEA4M83kcdOawyurY4cDF4KMV3063_B6WzNXk&m=js7hHQvmMGrua64TmIHMss_srqDJSq7hfrWGularkGM&s=G2HQ1_-LbWl5DcrLG0Uohjw9FwDM2fH3uKFLPNFLkwU&e=>, is proud to host a pre-workshop A.I. Hack-A-Thon on March 3, 2020.

The purpose of the Hack-A-Thon is to give participants "hands-on" experience with A.I. as they attempt to address several aspects of charged particle reconstruction in nuclear physics experiments. By the end of the session participants should gain a deeper insight into the tools, and techniques present in A.I.

Challenge problems are simplified versions of a common application of A.I. in experimental nuclear physics. Tracking charged particles through magnetic fields is often the most time-intensive tasks in reconstruction algorithms and an excellent example of the power of A.I. in a real-world application.

Activities, food and refreshments for the Hack-A-Thon are covered by Amazon Web Services. Click Here<https://www.jlab.org/sites/default/files/conference/Travel%20Grant%20Announcement-1.pdf> for more information on travel assistance.
