IUPAP EARLY CAREER SCIENTIST PRIZE IN NUCLEAR PHYSICS FOR 2025
Call for nominations of the IUPAP Early Career Scientist Prize in Nuclear Physics
The IUPAP Young Scientist Prize in Nuclear Physics was established by IUPAP in 2005 at
the time of the General Assembly in Cape Town, South Africa and renamed to Early
Career Scien1st Prize by the 31st IUPAP General Assembly.
The purpose of the prize is: "To recognize and encourage promising experimental or
theoretical research in nuclear physics, including the advancement of methods,
procedures, techniques, or devices that contribute in a significant way to nuclear
physics research.”
The prize consists of an amount of 1,000 €, a medal, a certificate citing the recipient's
contributions, and a presentation at INPC 2025 where they will receive the award.
Nominations are open to all areas of applied and basic nuclear physics in experiment
and theory. The nomination package should contain, other than the nomination letter,
two additional letters of support, the curriculum vitae of the nominee containing also
the list of publications.
Nominations are due November 1, 2024. At this date candidates for the prize must have
a maximum of eight years of research experience (excluding career interruption)
following the Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree. The additional letters supporting the
nomination should detail the significance of the work of the nominee. To underline this,
additional material such as published articles can be added to the nomination package.
Especially information that allows the selection committee to evaluate the nominee’s
contribution and impact to the field is welcome.
Three prizes will be awarded at the next 29th International Nuclear Physics Conference,
INPC2025, May 25th – 30th, 2025 in Daejon, South Korea. Inquiries about the prize can
be made to the Chairs of the IUPAP Commission on Nuclear Physics, the C12
Commission: Prof. Ani Aprahamian, University of Notre Dame, USA, aapraham at nd.edu,
and Prof Maria J G Borge, IEM-CSIC, Madrid, Spain, mj.borge at csic.es.
The deadline for nominations by email is November 1, 2024 to Maria J G Borge, subject
