POSTDOCTORAL POSITION

EXPERIMENTAL NUCLEAR/PARTICLE PHYSICS

(Focus on Strangeness Nuclear Physics at J-PARC/Japan)

UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO, ALBUQUERQUE

  

The Medium Energy Physics Group at the University of New Mexico (Profs. Bernd
Bassalleck and Doug Fields) invites applications for an experimental
postdoctoral research position. Our group's activities focus on the Spin
Physics program of the PHENIX collaboration at RHIC (Prof. Fields) and on
Strangeness Nuclear Physics experiments at J-PARC in Tokai/Japan (Prof.
Bassalleck), particularly the strangeness -2 sector. At least initially the
successful candidate will be_expected to reside at J-PARC_  to participate
fully in preparations for and running of experiments at the Hadron Experimental
Facility there (http://j-parc.jp/index-e.html).
While our primary interests center around the experiments outlined in proposals
P42, P07, and P05 (http://j-parc.jp/researcher/Hadron/en/Proposal_e.html),
participation in other experiments will be possible and encouraged. Candidates
must have completed the Ph.D. at the time of hire.
