Edinburgh Nuclear Physics Group
Chancellor's Fellow in Experimental Nuclear Physics Grade UE08 £37,756 -
£45,053 or exceptionally on Grade UE09 £47,787 - £53,765
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS EXTENDED TO 28 FEBRUARY 2014
The Nuclear Physics group is part of the Institute for Particle and
Nuclear Physics. The group has an exciting, broad-ranging and
interconnected research programme in hadron physics, exotic nuclei,
nuclear astrophysics and direct searches for dark matter. Group members
are currently leading and developing a number of major new initiatives
in each of these areas at world leading international laboratories. The
group's scientific programmes are underpinned by a wide range of
innovative new techniques and approaches, combined with the development
of advanced new detector and instrumentation systems.
We seek to appoint a Chancellor's Fellow in any of the group's research
areas, and would consider candidates in new and related areas. We expect
candidates to have shown the potential for international scientific
leadership, and to play an important role in the evolving the long-term
scientific interests of the group.
Opportunities for significant partnership and support from other areas
of the Institute and School exist, including access to the Advanced
Detector Development Centre and high performance computing, and with the
broad range of astronomical research conducted by the Institute for
Astronomy and at the Royal Observatory Edinburgh.
Candidates should have a proven track record in experimental nuclear
physics research, have the ability to work well within a group and lead
a team, and show the potential to attract research grant funding.
