Postdoctoral Researcher Position on electron/neutrino scattering at
Virginia Tech

The Center for Neutrino Physics at Virginia Tech invites applications
for one research
associate position. The Virginia Tech group is involved in the study of
neutrino
interactions with matter and their effects on the determination of
neutrino oscillation
parameters. The successful candidate will work primarily on developing
and testing
nuclear models for neutrino interactions using neutrino and electron
scattering data on
argon. The candidate will work on the preparation of an electron
scattering experiment on
Argon/Titanium at Jefferson Lab including data taking and analysis. The
successful
candidate will be involved in neutrino interaction measurements using
the MicroBooNE
detector. Work will also involve collaborating with leading theorists in
the field in
developing and validating nuclear models for neutrino interaction Monte
Carlo
generators. Duties may also include supervising and coordinating the
work of other
researchers and personnel, especially graduate and undergraduate
students, and
development of future efforts such as the DUNE experiment. The
successful candidate
will be based in Blacksburg, VA but will be required to spend some
period of time in
Fermilab, Chicago and Jefferson Lab, VA.

The successful applicant must hold a Ph.D. in experimental particle or
nuclear physics.
Experience in neutrino/electron scattering is preferred. This position
is available starting
07/10/2016, or any later, mutually agreed date. The initial appointment
will be for one
year, with the possibility of extension for up to three years.
