Job Title: Scientific Staff - Physicist - US ATLAS Upgrade Project

The Omega Group has an opening for a physicist to manage the U.S. ATLAS 
Phase-II Upgrade
Construction Project. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in physics with 
emphasis in experimental
particle physics, astrophysics or nuclear physics and at least 10 years' 
experience in the field.

The candidate should have a recognized body of work in the field with 
broad contributions to
scientific leadership, detector design and construction. The candidate 
must have extensive
experience in all phases of large science projects to act as the 
Construction Project Manager. The
U.S. ATLAS Phase-II Construction Project anticipates obtaining a DOE 
Critical Decision 0 (CD-
0) in Fiscal Year 2016 and plans to start construction in FY2017 with 
completion in FY2024. This
will be a joint project of DOE and NSF with an anticipated total budget 
of about $230M. This
project will mainly include a new all Si Tracker system, significant 
upgrade to the calorimeter
readout, muon system and TDAQ. The project will involve other national 
laboratories and many
university groups. Familiarity with the DOE and NSF reviews and project 
approval processes,
including documentation, reviews, value engineering, risk assessment and 
management, quality
assurance and earned value management is highly desirable. She/he should 
have demonstrated
capabilities in a.) communicating with scientific and engineering staff, 
b.) procurement, c.)
resource loaded scheduling, and d.) management experience in scientific 
environment.

This is a physicist-level position with a proposed start date of 
employment between October 1 and
January 1, 2017. The application should include a CV, at least three
