The Physics Department of the Catholic University of America in
Washington, DC. invites applications for a postdoctoral research
associate in the experimental nuclear physics group. This position
presents opportunity to work on two projects, currently running the
GlueX Experiment in Hall D at Jefferson Lab and future Electron Ion
Collider.

The successful applicant is expected to make significant contribution to
the data analysis with the GlueX hadronic physics program, which is
currently ongoing. The applicant will also have opportunity to take part
in the construction and commissioning of a new DIRC particle
identification detector, which will provide pion/kaon separation to
search for exotic mesons containing strange quarks.

The second part of the position will provide the opportunity to play
important role in a R&D program of PID system for the future Electron
Ion Collider. It focus on pushing the DIRC technology beyond the state
of the arc by developing the High Performance DIRC detector. It will
provide the opportunity to work both on simulations as well as a wide
range of hardware activities.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in experimental nuclear or particle
physics. Experience with hardware and data analysis is desirable.
Candidates must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research
statement, and provide names and email addresses of three references who
will be contacted to submit a letter of reference.
