The University of Virginia Department of Physics invites applicants for
a Research Assistant Professor position. We seek an experimental
physicist with a strong record of research in nuclear physics exploiting
solid polarized targets. The successful candidate will take the lead in
the design and construction of innovative cryogenic polarized targets in
collaboration with the existing Solid Polarized Target Group at the
University of Virginia, while developing future research directions.

Upon joining the faculty at the University of Virginia, the new research
faculty member will be expected to establish a vibrant and successful
research program in physics; obtain external funding; and mentor
doctoral students. The position is non-tenure-track and continuation of
the appointment beyond an initial three year period is conditional on
maintenance of external research funding. Review of applications will
begin December 20, 2018; however, later applications may be considered
until the position is filled. Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in
physics or a related field at the time of application.
