Postdoctoral Research Associate (Stationed at Fermilab)
********************************************************************
The experimental Medium Energy Physics group at Mississippi State University invites
applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position. The group has research interests
that include studies of nucleon structure and QCD dynamics in nuclei at Jefferson Lab and
Fermilab, such as the precision measurement of color propagation and fragmentation
processes, the study of color transparency phenomena, and the partonic structure of bound
nucleons. The group is, in addition, interested in the study of sea quarks distributions, the
EMC effect, the poorly known gluon transverse momentum distributions using J/Ψ production,
and transversity with the polarized Drell-Yan, E1039/SpinQuest, experiment at Fermilab.

We are looking for candidates who will be stationed at Fermilab and continue leading our
efforts on optimizing an advanced Graphics Processing Unit based multi-threaded framework
for online data reconstruction and monitoring and contributing to the commissioning and
running of the SpinQuest experiment as well as data analyses. The successful candidate will
be encouraged to actively participate in the development of new proposals as well as
projects.

A Ph.D. in experimental nuclear or particle physics or related fields and proficiency in
programming and data analysis concepts are required. Preferences will be given to
candidates with prior knowledge of GPU-based programming.

Candidates must apply online at https://explore.msujobs.msstate.edu/<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__explore.msujobs.msstate.edu_&d=DwMFaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=TI1-uR1CNrL-lIqQDSyKdxNA8TlS9bg3dZbKl21HDQU&m=5FSp6TW9dSFfnDJj9OzKqM_NSEaAvcFw9yocSy2mHp6aDQWnYZDMClC0QThKvasA&s=uNmR4iiUkTFV6DAK5PwPsMyr_wxhDHF9Z2a6i92VENk&e=> (JOB # 506513) and
include a resume or curriculum vitae and a brief statement describing research interests as
well as work experiences. At least two recommendation letters should be sent electronically
to Prof. Lamiaa El Fassi (le334 at msstate.edu<mailto:le334 at msstate.edu>).

Screening of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
Applications received by mid. of August 2023 will receive full consideration.

MSU is an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration
for employment without regard to race, color, ethnicity, sex, religion, national origin, disability,
