[Dcouncil] Message from Hugh Montgomery: Diversity & Inclusion Culture Survey - Error

Myung brings out a good point. Why have the word "anonymous" put in the wording? If the survey says anonymous, then it should be just that, anonymous! If one is able to find out who wrote what on a survey, that is supposed to be anonymous, then the word "anonymous" should be taken out of the wording. This completely defeats the purpose of having it anonymous.

Not technically. Though we could find out, either from the email or IP address, who someone is, we are not going to. We are only interested in aggregate results. So, the system does not ensure anonymity, we do. I agree that does sound contradictory.

All,
I was reading the message from Mont and there seem to be little error. In the message, there is a phase like " is uniquely tied to your email address." and " The survey is anonymous as we want everyone to share their thoughts freely"
Maybe it's my English skill, but to me, these two phrase don't go together. Am I wrong?
