All,

I'm trying to nail down a "production" configuration for drupal sites -- in
particular for engineering groups here. I've given a little thought to what
I've heard from them over the years regarding their needs and have compiled
a list of desired features. Does this sound pretty close?

Thanks for your time,

Marty

Engineering Group Web Site Standard Features

===================================================

Electronic Logbook(s) - Used to record time based events occurring in
conjunction with some ongoing activity. Normally, logs are not modified
after they're written, or, if they are, the original entry is also
preserved.

Online Notebook(s) - For keeping track of laboratory, technical or
experimental notes. Can be individual or group based. Must be able to
accommodate various attachments.

Document Repository - for actual documents, possibly reference material, or
work product

Documentation - The sort of thing we'd use a wiki for, mostly internal, or
at least informal documentation usually generated by the group itself.

Image Gallery - The need for this varies greatly, but it's always a
collection of some kind of media files - audio, video, photographic, etc.
maintaining, managing, viewing, presenting these is usually important to
these groups.

Event Calendar - This is a common need, either for tracking upcoming events
like conferences, or for scheduling things like shifts for group members.

Team/Task Management Tools - Small engineering support groups frequently
want tools to keep track of tasks, project status, etc. in general terms.
These tools also include ticket-based problem tracking.

Ability to Easily Access/Edit - site's content should be easily accessible
from on and off site, from mobile devices, etc.
