Hi Marc,

Thanks for this information. Sorry I did not see your earlier email. To get a hold of me by phone you can use 717-269-6488<tel:717-269-6488>. I will work with Jack on the gas and contact you if we need anything setup remotely.

Thanks,
Zeke

Hi Zeke,

I will not be available to come to the lab this week.

If monitoring needs to be set up this week I can provide remote support and tell you what needs to be connected. Jack knows the location of the GEM gas Rpis in the Hall A entrance. Once things are connected, I should be able to operate the system remotely.

The SBS Raspberry Pi (currently connected) is optimized to work with the SBS gas system. It already has two I2C channels to monitor all the signals (gas, pressure, and Argon percentage) and the software runs as it should.

I will send a request to the CC to move it to the same subnet (188) as the ones already in the hall. When you move the RPi, take the network cable with it, Jack has a switch in the alcove and can show you the mini rack with the other GEM RPis.

What will be needed in the hall are two network lines run to the location of the rack when it is in the hall. Jack will need to show you where and what to run. He has a specific routing system for I2C lines. Jack also has some power supplies, please do not take the bench top supply down to the hall, just leave it, the monitor and keyboard in EEL 125.

Regards,
Marc

Subject: [EXTERNAL] SBS GEM Gas

Hi Marc and Jack,

Tomorrow (Tuesday) we will be moving the main GEM stack from EEL to Hall A. Marc, I just wanted to check if I needed to do anything specific (other than unplugging cables) for the gas readback Raspberry Pi and other electronics prior to moving the gas rack?

Ideally we would like to get gas flowing as soon as possible once they get to the Hall. Holly, can you remind me if we were going to wait till it was put on the SBS platform or before then?

I think the current plan is to move the mixing system as is to the Hall until Jack can create the hookups in the Hall A gas shed, which will occur before Hall A gets beam. We also need to determine the optimal position in the Hall for the rack with all of the SBS GEM flow meters.

Best,
Zeke
