Hello Ching,
No, I have not seen this behavior before with the other HV modules.
From the sent video, I noticed that channel 2 with a set output voltage of 641.84 V is oscillating (from 586 V to 571V), I don't see a straight voltage drop. Also, looks like the temperature is higher for this particular channel, at least comparing with other channels where the voltage was set to the same output value; I'm not sure if this might be an indication of a potential issue with the hardware component for this channel.
Was this behavior only noticed for channel 2?
What was the outcome decision about allowing to the CAEN tech support to remotely monitor the faulty boards in the Lab?
Regards,
Pablo

Hi Pablo,
I have one CAEN HV A1515BTGHP HV module (serial number 30111) that is unable to maintain the voltage.
It was fine for ~1 hr. Then the voltage suddenly drops. The attached video is after we noticed the issue.
Have you seen this behavior before? We have this module in testlab room 1128A if you would like to take a look.

Hello Ching,
Since you have the modules, you may want to answer some of the question from CAEN. See the message from the CAEN ticket support system I just received today.[cid:2666ce23-e65e-4157-8e9e-485469822785]

Pablo

The modules are still in the box that were delivered, located on the table right in front of the room entrance.
See attached pictures.

Hi Pablo,
I will come to pick them up later today. Is there a note on the box or something similar so I can identify the box?
Thank you
Ching Him

Hello Ching and Holly,
I received the two A1515BTG modules from CAEN and they are located in EEL building, room 121C. Feel free to pick the modules up when you have a chance.
CAEN informed that modules were tested, and all EPICS parameters are available with no issues. CAEN also suggested to remotely connect from their labs to the SY4527 mainframe in JLAB if more debugging is needed in the future.
Regards,
Pablo

Hi Pablo,
Thank you. Please let us know if you have any updates from CAEN.

Hello Ching,
I just move the crates, boards, and power cables to the Hall A counting house.
I placed them in the table right in the entrance.
The two A1515BTG boards that were sent to CAEN to be fixed are still with CAEN, they are running more tests.
Regards,
Pablo

Hi Pablo,
If possible, can you leave them in Hall A counting house?
Thank you

Hello Ching,
We can take the crates back today.
The crates are currently located at the EEL 121C room.
Where do you want the crates to be returned?
Regards,
Pablo

Hi Pablo,
May I ask when could we get our crates back?

Hi Pablo,
I am slightly concerned about the crate observations. We had no problem with the good crate during running and had the epics values available the whole run. The “bad” crate could not generate the epics pvs for the experiment and demonstrated a very different behavior than the crate we used even when we swapped in different cards from other crates. The problem was not an issue with the cards, as we observed.

Hello Holly,
From all the testing and troubleshooting performed, we believed that the inability to monitor the EPICS process variables for the A1515BTG boards was a problem related to the boards itself. We noticed that the EPICS PVs only were available when one board was connected at the time, regardless of the crate to which (crates .136 or .135) they were connected.
The following tasks were done to troubleshoot the boards:
* Checked and ensured that the latest firmware version (1.6.6) was installed in the mainframe (crate .136)
* Downloaded and upgraded HV Control firmware to recommended version 2.2.0 (crate .136)
* Received firmware file to upgrade A1515BTG boards to recommended version 1.01 (installing one at the time in crate .136 and also tried on crate .135) but failed, now boards have no firmware installed.
* Sent a report to CAEN technical support and they decided and authorized the return process for these two boards.
I'm in the process of completing the forms sent by CAEN to generate the RMA number to send the boards for repair as agreed.
In the meantime, I planning to start testing the A1515BTG board (PID 23962), this is the last board that I picked up with the reported voltage output monitoring issues, but first we (DSG) will discuss the details of our plan to test it in our control room and comply with all safety requirements.
Regards,
Pablo

Hi Pablo,
What is the status on the crate? I am curious how that is going.
Thanks,
