I submitted a PR for five connectors (one plus a spare).

Mindy will add them to the cables once they arrive based on the 404 drawing<https://www.jlab.org/div_dept/physics_division/dsg/technical_documentation/Hall_A/SoLID/Drawings/A00000-16-03-0404.pdf>.

Correction

looking at the most recent photo of the test lab, the axial gauges are in boxes under the magnet, on the left side, and the 4 cables are laying next to them.

I would suggest going over and looking at the axial units and the cables. They are on the table on the left side of the magnet and the four cables are along the floor beside the magnet. It appears that the four cables were terminate the same way as the radial cables, with intent of having an intermediate drop down cable between them and the strain gauges? That intermediate cable is not needed really. Drawings 0403 and 0404 call for a 5 pin socket Tuchel connector and does not show the extra cable. I am not sure why there are 7 (?) pin connectors on the radial cables.

There are 5 pin Tuchel socket connectors attached to the cut out off cables in each box housing the axial strain gauges. The easiest and fastest method would be to cut off the socket connector from the cables and join the two cables together using a terminal strip, for each of the four strain gauges. This is not a step by step instruction but rather a general idea.

A permanent solution would be to order the correct 5 pin Tuchel socket connectors, but there is no need for them until the magnet is installed within the yokes - when it is operating in the Hall, not the in test lab.

Steven

Hi Steven,

I'm a bit confused with what exactly is needed.

Do we need to order anything? Modifying existing fabricated cables? Or are we just connecting the old 5-pin connectors to wires that don't yet have connectors on them?

Hi,

Even though the axial strain gauges are not being used for C LEO's low current test runs, I thought it would be a good idea to verify that they work, the controls wiring is proper and calibrations are done now.

Found that the axial strain gauge cables had the wrong Tuchels connector on them. They use the 5 pin connector instead of the 6 pin connector that the radial gauges used. The 5 pin free socket end is what will be needed on the ends of the cable coming from the I/O rack.

Should be an easy fix.

Steven
