With regards to Ruben’s request for long term support for the software of the torus and solenoid PLC and LabVIEW systems; Patrizia gave an unequivocal answer: Tyler and Pablo . See copy of e-mail attached below.

my answers below: 





Could you please advise whether the DSG will definitely be providing long term support for all the PLC and Labview software for both the Torus and Solenoid? 



Yes, as I told you last week, DSG will provide long term support for all the PLC and Labview software for both the Torus and Solenoid. Anyhow, as I also told you when we met, they will not be “on call" 



Also, do you have particular DSG team member names assigned for this support? 



Pablo is currently writing the PLC software for the solenoid. 



Tyler is working with Christiana on the Labview software for the solenoid. 



What about the software (PLC and Labview) for the Torus which has already been written? 



Pablo will take care of the PLC for the Solenoid and Torus 

Tyler will take care of Labview for the Solenoid and Torus

Comments 


    1. I do much appreciate Brian’s initiative in taking care of the systems in Tyler’s absence. As deputy of the DSG this is expected. However, Brian's participation should not lead to the confusion that the magnet group has a choice between Brian and Tyler. 
    2. As deputy of the DSG, Brian has several projects to take care of, and as deputy, he has a free hand to contribute to any or all of the projects DSG is supporting. However, Brian serves at Patrizia's pleasure. Brian can not be considered for long term support on any major project without Patrizia's approval. 
    3. In addition to Brian, DSG has another PLC and LabVIEW expert, Peter Bonneau, who advises Tyler and Pablo on their magnet work. 
    4. DSG works as a group. So, both Brian and Peter advise and guide Pablo and Tyler with the work on the magnet. 
    5. Pablo has created the dsg-hallb_magnets mailing list. Please post magnet related communications to this list so that everyone is on the same page . I'm asking DSG staff to forthwith do so.
