[Dsg-mvt] bottles

George,

The only portion I'm responsible for at the moment is the EEL portion. This encompasses the bottles outside, up to the portions shown in green on the MVT Gas Supply Box P&ID. Downstream of this boundary is only ~1atm.

For the EEL portion, it's only one bottle of Ar-C4H10 mixture and one bottle of Ar connected to the system as shown in your P&ID.

The system does not meet the 1,000 ft-lb excepted criteria. This is regardless of the small amount of stored energy in the tubing/piping, and is driven by the stored energy of the bottles connected to the system. A PS folder will be created in DocuShare. The system will be evaluated/designed per ASME B31.3. I'm writing the initial pressure systems analysis document now. Once I know if there are changes needed to the any components I'll let you know.

Matt

Hi Matt,

Are you working on the complete mixing system or the EEL test setup?

For the Final Mixing System, no neon for the MVT unless it becomes available. There is a world wide shortage of Neon, considered a strategic gas, due to military laser projects. Instead, the final mixing system will use C4H10, CF4, and argon. There are 2 gas mixtures required (1) 10% C4H10 in argon and (2) 10% CF4 10% C4H10 in argon. I have attached the mixing system diagram.

For the EEL and FT test setups, a full Argon cyl is ~2700 psi. T size cylinders are sometimes used, 330 scf @ ~2700 psi

George,

Also, how many SCF of neon mix?

What pressure is the 300SCF Ar cylinder when full?

George,

I see that the 9:1 Ar C4H10 mixture bottles arrive at 276psig. Will the neon mixture bottle be at the same or similar pressure?
