brian, have you forgotten your physics? 
there exists a certain probability, quantum albeit, that when mix 2 is hooked up mix 1 readback will be correct! 
imho you didn't have to do anything.

MVT/FT Gas Mixing Setup

Maxence was trying to flow gas this afternoon, initially just with the FTT. 

However despite having a few psi in the buffer tank there was no pressure on their end. 

I was later informed that the FTT is now connected to mix 2. The code and GUI was changed then deployed and now there is pressure building in the FTT as that is currently the only detector requesting gas from this mixing system.
