DSG-RICH Meeting Minutes:
Attendees: Amanda, Amrit, Dario, Marc, Marco Mirazita, Pablo, Peter, Sahin, Sandro, Tyler, Valery, Vincenzo
November 7, 2016
RICH components will arrive at JLab at beginning of January 2017. There will be four boxes total. Box 2 and Box 3 will be stored in EEL 125 because the contents are humidity sensitive. Box 1 and Box 4 will be stored in ESB. DSG will contact Mitch Laney to notify him of the incoming international shipment.
For RICH assembly structure anchoring, Hall B Engineering will drill holes. Drilling location will be determined using template that is part of assembly structure. George mentioned that silica dust training is needed for the drilling; Hall B Engineering has proper training. After assembly structure construction DSG will contact Survey Group for leveling of structure.
Air compressor, air tank, and nitrogen dewar will be in EEL 125. Gas lines will run under roll-up door into EEL 124 and then around cleanroom to RICH. Mary Ann will update drawing to show changes.
Lifts are needed during assembly. DSG members Mindy and Sahin have harness training and can help on lifts. Pablo and Tyler will get harness training to be able to help. INFN collaborators will be able to take training to be able to use lifts.
November 8, 2016
During assembly DSG will assist in assembly process. Rigging and gantry operation will be done by Sahin. For the assembly process, a parts list and a specific procedure will be created. After detector frame is assembled, Survey Group will assist in its survey.
INFN collaborators will be at JLab when assembly structure and parts shipment arrive and during assembly process.
After detector is completely assembled and installed in Hall B, assembly structure will be disassembled and stored in its shipping crate. The assembly structure will be used for construction of RICH 2 sector. An alternate procedure may be developed in for RICH installation in Hall B that does not use the assembly structure. This new procedure is still in development.
For RICH assembly in EEL 124, an OSP, THA, and Hall B List will be needed. DSG will provide guidance in writing these documents.
OSP submitted has been rejected. More information is needed on the gas system and the ASME calculations. A Design Authority is needed to complete the required paperwork and review the ASME calculations. Marc will contact Hall B Engineering regarding ASME calculations. Once ASME calculations have been reviewed and added to OSP, the OSP will be submitted again for approval.
The spherical mirrors will be shipped for coating by November 14, 2016. Spherical mirrors are estimated to return to JLab in March 2017. Mirrors will be re-packed to ensure safe transport.
Pre-production electronic boards are being finished now. Pre-production boards will be tested at INFN and JLab. After testing, production will start on final models. Final production models are estimated to arrive at JLab in February 2017
The purchase order for 3cm layer of aerogel is on-going. The manufacturer will be switching to produce the 2cm layer of aerogel because the 2cm layer is more critical to detector operation. Aerogel shipments are expected to continue at the pace of one shipment a month until all aerogel is delivered.
Production of planar mirrors is on-going for lateral and bottom mirrors. Planar mirrors are estimated to arrive at JLab in January 2017. On arrival, each mirror should be unpacked and inspection. Planar mirrors will be stored in the small DSG clean room until they are installed in RICH.
