[Dsg-rich] Humidity monitoring

hi pablo,
thanks for the info.
the humidity readings look good.
the central sensors are at the lowest we've seen, the readings have gone down by 1% after ~26 volume exchanges (~130,000 liters ~20% of total)
this goes to indicate diffusion doesn't always solve the problem; one has to look out for eddies, votrices, and stagnations.
perhaps in the next RICH there will be several points at which N2 will be injected, like whats been done in the e-panel.
anyway, T-4 days left for " miller time ".
hope to hear from you tomorrow.
wish you a good night.

Hello,
Flow is stable, there is a small difference of 0.1 slm (lower) since yesterday (12/28). Nervertheless all humidity readouts indicate decrements of ~ 0.1 % for almost all humidity sensors on the RICH Nitrogen volume.
Best Regards,
Pablo

hi pablo,
agree with what you say (for the aerogel vol., right?).
flow is stable as well.
i think the central sensor is at a stagnation point ; unfortunately, these areas do occur in fluid flow; because @13slm there are 3.75 volume exchanges a day, so we've had ~22 vol. exchanges in all.
perhaps, to address the situation one should flow N2 in from one side @ ~20slm or more and exhaust it from the other side, set up a whorl.
anyway, i'm, confident this situation will disappear in the hall, where the detector will not be flat on its back; thanks to convection.
good news is that those central sensors are working and are giving an upper limit for the humidity.
have a good night.

Hello Amrit,
All humidity readouts are showing normal values, highest value is < 3% humidity; except for the sensor humidity sensor located in the central at the spherical mirror pivot which is also lower (actual readouts ~4.8 %) than the value showed the first hours after the sealing of the RICH nitrogen volume on 12/22/17 (5.6%).
Nitrogen flow is also stable take a look attached screenshot.
Best Regards,
Pablo

thanks pablo,
the system seems to be stable.
so, T-7 days and counting.
after that "it's miller time"

Hello,
Some of the humidity sensors readouts present even lower humidity values than yesterday, nitrogen flow is stable at 12.77 [slm].

Pablo

thanks pablo,
hate to say things are going well,
because that means we don't know what the hell is going on!
(american double-speak)
maybe maxwell's demon (physics double-speak for improbable events) read my earlier e-mail and like the grinch who stole xmas, stole my xmas puzzle.
anyways, heard my wife whisper to my daughter, who asked who is pablo, "he's dad's blue eyed boy".
now that's real tough to decipher.
wish a goodnight

Hello Amrit,
Nitrogen flow was stable since yesterday 12/25/17, flow has not dropped today (~12.77 slm). Good news is that all humidity values dropped a little bit (~0.2 %), see attached screenshot.
Best Regards,
Pablo

hi pablo,
thanks for monitoring the RICH.
trust you had a good xmas.
as you see the the flow rate has dropped a little, but we are still on track.
xmas puzzle.
we have 4 dewars in parallel.
each dewar is essentially full.
each has its pressure limited to 35 psig.
exit pressure is 15 psig
so why is the flowrate dropping for every 4% /day reduction of liquid N2?
