[Dsg-rich] CLAS12 RICH OSP

Dear All,

After talking with Patrizia and looking over the recommendations from the last ERR, I have attached a response to the ERR item number 4. In my opinion the OSP may be drafted at any time but the system shall not be deemed safe to operate until the system has been turned over to the system owner. The owner needs to be identified clearly and this person must have the required training SAF 103C which is being offered soon and is classroom based. Note that JLAB design authorities do not "approve" systems. This approval is a multi step process and is described in ESH&Q manual Chapter 6151.

Good luck

Hi Marco,

The system will not be operated prior to approval.

As far as I know, nothing has been approved and this process is on hold until after the KPP. For more information, you will need to direct your questions to Dave Meekins, he is the DA for the RICH.

Hi George,
my question is specifically related to the RICH recommandation which
reads:

The air-cooling and nitrogen gas systems are pressure systems and
approvals from the Pressure Systems design authority are required
before operation.

Forgive my ignorance: I am not sure WHEN the approval should be
granted. I assume in order to "modify the hardware" (as you say) you
need to follow a design (already) approved by an authority.
Do you actually mean the DESIGN is still being modified, to get
approval and then a new hardware layout conform to JLab regulations ?
Or there is already a new approved design and you are as a
consequence working on the new hardware ?

Thnaks, Marco.

Hi Marco,

The hardware is in the process of being modified to comply with JLAB's pressure system requirements. This work is currently on
hold until after the KPP run.

Dear George,
thank you so much. I appreciate the manuals and diagrams. Does it means the design is now approved (by the pressure
system Design Authority) or
is this still in progress ?
Thanks, Marco.

I have attached the P&I diagrams along with the operations manual for your OSP. The hardware is being
modified to comply with
JLAB's pressure systems requirements.

The EPICS screens and cRIO Controls Manual are a separate entity.

Dear David, Marc and George,
Hall-B will undergo Accelerator Readiness Review (ARR) next week. As part of this review, it is
required to answer to
the recommendations of CLAS12 ERR. For the RICH detector, they deal with the OSP.

To my understanding, you had a meeting in November to clarify the remaining issues about the RICH
pressure gas
system. May you provide
me with an update of the OSP status ? I would need to send this
information to Eugene Pasyuk within today.

Thank you a lot, Marco.
