Hello Marco Mirazita,
Since you left JLab, we have not been able to complete any other reflectivity tests on RICH mirror samples. This week we have completed the necessary laser training and also the necessary safety documentation. We will start the tests again tomorrow morning.
In regards to our findings that the dark box used for the tests being too small to test the spherical mirrors, we have found two solutions.
The first solution would be to move the entire test set-up into EEL 121b small clean room. The small clean room has already been darkened for the RICH d0 measurements so we would be able to table open without a dry box. Since the reflectivity tests use a laser for alignment, we will have to check with JLab ESH&Q whether the test set-up could be operated without its dark box cover. If moving the test set-up into the small clean room is approved, we will do so as soon as possible so we can get reflectivity measurements on Mirrors 3 and 4.
The second solution is to extend the current dark box. Marc has started to gather materials that could be used to modify the existing dark box to make it big enough for all RICH spherical mirrors. If we are not able to move the test set-up into the small clean room, we will modify the existing dark box as soon as possible.
In the upcoming days, we will continue to test the mirror samples and will send the results as we get them.
Best regards,
Tyler
