tyler
i'm confused.
i thought we were using 1" tube all the way (60') to the patch panel at the RICH and then 1/2" jacketed stainless steel inside the RICH for the 16 feet inside.
so why did you use 40' long 1/2" tube?
if the plan now to tun 1/2" tube all the way"
if so why?

Subject: [Dsg-rich] Test of prototype stainless steel air-cooling manifold
Hello,
This morning, we tested a prototype stainless steel air-cooling manifold with the RICH compressors.
Marc made the manifold to Dario's drawing with stainless steel piping we had on hand. We used a forty-foot long, 1/2-inch OD plastic line from the gas panel to the manifold. All parts were discussed and approved with a design authority, Matt Marchlik, before the test.
The Atlas Copco compressor was set to maintain the compressor's outlet pressure between 100 psi - 113 psi.
The results from the test are below:
Gas panel pressure regulator setting [psi]
Maximum airflow observed [liters/minute]
10
200
20
280
30
350
40
425
50
500
60
600
After reaching 600 liters/minute airflow, we let the system run for ~30 minutes with the regulator set to 60 psi and airflow set to allow the maximum possible flow to observe the compressor output and airflow over time. The compressor was able to maintain its output pressure in the range of 100 psi - 113 psi, as set. The airflow output was effected by the change in the compressor's output pressure. When pressure dropped to ~100 psi, causing the compressor motors to start, flow had decreased to ~575 l/min. When pressure increased to~113 psi, causing the compressor motors to turn off, flow had also increased to ~600 l/min.
Attached are photos showing the prototype manifold clamped to a table for the test and a the gas panel's instrumentation showing 600 l/min flow at 60 psi.
After this successful test, we will procure the DA suggested PVC-coated 1/2-inch OD stainless steel pipe next week to fabricate the final cooling manifold.
Best regards,
Tyler
