Hi Bill,
I moved RV1 to just downstream of the 0-60 psi back up supply PR in the P&I as you suggested. See attached P&I diagram
We have successfully tested for proper pnuematic valve operation. The equipment is now labeled and ready to install.
Thanks,
George

The new arrangement is okay and the relief valve is properly sized. You can go ahead and test your desktop arrangement, with a couple of additional comments- if the relief is at the panel as indicated, you need to keep an eye on the length of 1/2" Nylotube- keep it at 100' or less. The reason is pressure drop at the relieving condition-you may have 75 x 1.1=82.5 psig at the panel, but the other end of the tube will be at a pressure =82.5 + pipe loss value. You should consider moving the relief to the supply end of things.

Hi Bill,
I have moved the relief valve as requested and added a size 47 Okeefe orifice on the high pressure side of the back up supply pressure regulator. I have added the orifice to the P&I diagram and componenets spreadsheet. See attachments.
The line length for the backup supply will depend on where Hall B decides to locate the back up supply gas bottles. A back up supply flow of 20 slm per detector volume, 40 slm total, is the target back up flow.
Thanks,
George

George, before we do that, please see the attached. We need to relocate RV1 so that it can protect both PV1 and PT3- RV1 serves no purpose in it's current location with respect to the Dewar supply, as that is already limited by the 65 psig reliefs installed on the dewar. The credible high pressure scenario is failure of the N2 cyl bank regulator, which could dump 3000 psi into the nylon line leading to PT3. If RV1 is relocated as indicated and an orifice is installed on the cylinder bank regulator (which I am assuming is in the plans) then sizing the orifice and including pipe pressure loss to RV1 for a flow of 70 SCFM or less will protect the components.

Hi William,
Can you give the DSG an estimate on when the back up N2 supply will be ready for testing and installation in Hall B?
Thanks,
George

Hi William,
Please find attached files; updated and expanded components list, updated P&I diagram, and annotated pic of assembly (for ref)
Please let me know if you need any additional info.
Happy Holidays!

George, I need more information about this system- please provide the following:
indicate line sizes and material on the diagram. I also need the corresponding attachment fittings information, manufacturer and part number. If the tubing is plastic, part numbers for the tube inserts if required by the manufacturer. The same information is needed on the parts list you provided- some are listing manufacturer info (Grainger is a distributor, not a manufacturer).
there is a relief valve on this system- where is the sizing calculation?
what is the pressure system number associated with this system?
where is this system physically located?
Are there actual mechanical drawings of this system?

Hello George,
Can you send Bob Miller and Bill Crahen the drawing, pressure systems numbers and any other documentation you have on the RICH N2 automatic back up?
Bill will be the DA for it.
Best regards,
Tyler

Hi Tyler,
Please send the drawings, pressure systems number, and whatever documentation you have to Bill Crahen and myself.
Bill will be the DA on this project.
Regards,
Bob
