[Dsg-rich] Fwd: Electronics panel temp and humidity

Hi Nathan,
We got some complaints from RICH group that some of their temperature sensors weren’t updating.
I looked at it and saw that the values were indeed updating, so I changed those PVs’ MDEL field from 0.01 to 0 so the values are more likely to update on the GUI indicators.
Is there anything I should update in regards to documentation that this change was made?
Thanks,
Tyler

Hi Valery,
Since I'm still not really sure what you are saying is wrong besides the two-decimal place value not changing on the CSS screen, I just went a head and reduced the MDEL field for the EP temperatures to 0 so any change, no matter how small, is displayed in EPICS. Please note that this is different than the MyaArchiver deadband, that has not changed.
The MDEL field was implemented by Nathan some time ago to limit network traffic for those PVs. We already lowered them once a few months ago but now they are set to zero.
Attached is a screenshot of a live view of MyaPlot showing that the temperature sensors are indeed updating in EPICS. Note that there are some PVs, like Temperature 10, 11, 13, and 14 who are still not changing more than 0.01 deg C. These indicators will still look like they are frozen on the CSS screen since their change is below the indicator's precision.

Tyler,
I believe that the sensors cannot stay constant with the accuracy 0.001C.
And I remember that the picture in EP and N@ readings was the same. I saw actually in your GUI
How temperatures are changing a bit.
Thanks,
Valery

Yes, the sensors in the N2 volume and EP are the same hardware and they have always behaved differently in terms of their reading because they are in different regions of the RICH.
I’ve checked each temperature and humidity PV for the EP and can see them changing.
I also verified that the N2 flow PV is changing and at the expected value.
Can you give more details on what you see that is wrong?

Tyler,
It was different yesterday. Something wrong. The sensors are the same in EP and N2 volumes but they behave differently, right?
Thanks,
Valery

Valery,
I can see value for the humidity sensors and temperature sensors in the EP change when I use "caget" from the command line.
The temperature sensors are changing very very little (~ 0.001 C) so you can't see that on the EP GUI because all of the indicators only go down to 0.01 precision.
There are some humidity sensors returning 0, but that has been that way for all of RICH's life when any electronics are on (LV is on now, according to RICH overview screen on EPICS). This is because electronics make it hotter, and the higher temperature, the lower the relative humidity in the environment.

But N2 sensors are updating normally. I can see it.
I can see it from your GUI.
I don't see any changes in EP volume.

Hi Valery,
I can see that the EP temperatures and humidity are indeed updating on EPICS but a very small amount (~ 0.001). These changes aren't seen on the GUI for the sensors because those indicators only go down to 0.01 deg C precision.
The N2 flow measurement is good as well, changes there are ~0.01 slm.
I also verified I could see these values changing in a live plot on MyaPlot.

Hi Tyler,
It looks for me that electronics panel temperature and humidity sensors are frozen.
Could you please take a look?
Hopefully, the nitrogen sensors are OK.
Thanks,
Valery
