Hi Tyler,

Please see Marco's response below. Based on his email, I will leave the repairs or purchase to you and I will not design an N2 system at this time.

Regards,

Bob

Dear Bob,
let me do a couple of consideration first.
We have about 40 additional tiles that will be soon shipped to jlab and that should be safely stored.
Then, we still plan to have the second RICH module assembled in the second half of 2021, but in the present covid situation I can't be too optimistic that this plan could be actually completed. Therefore, we must consider the possibility that we will need to have the aerogel stored in the cabinets for very long time. In this scenario, purging the broken dry boz with nitrogen doesn't seem to me really practical.
Repairing the broken one (which, from Tyler's picture look to me the INFN one, with european power unit) could also not be the best, because most likely we will need additional space for the upcoming tiles. in the past we borrowed some free space from the large cabinet in the EEL-124, but I heard from Tyler that also this cabinet is not working.
So, my suggestion would be to buy a new cabinet, with double capacity then the broken one, if possible.
Alternatively, I would consider to repair the large cabinet rather then the small one.
Best regards,
Marco

Do you want to purge the box with N2 as suggested below, or have the
storage box repaired or replaced?

Hello Bob,

Last week we had one of the RICH aerogel storage dryboxes fail.
Fortunately, we've been able to relocate the aerogel in that drybox
into the other two dryboxes. Since we're now storing aerogel at or
even above full capacity of the two working dryboxes, if there's a
problem with one of those, we would not have anywhere else to move the
aerogel.

Because of this, could you put together a system with a nitrogen
bottle to be able to purge the dryboxes with nitrogen?

The set up would be the same as we discussed back in October before
the power outage in the EEL. I think all that would be needed is a
nitrogen bottle with a regulator, relief valve, local pressure
indication, rotameter, and the fittings to run a 1/4" gas line to the
boxes. We already have a few feedthroughs that would be used to
connect the gas line to the box.

At some point we may want to add remote pressure monitoring to the
set up (we don't have the sensors available right now but may in the
future), so if needed, please include those in the pressure system
design.

If you have any questions or need any more information, let us know.

Thanks,
Tyler
