[dsg-hallb_rich] RICH aerogel nitrogen purge during upcoming planned power outage in EEL

Hi Bob,

Currently, we don't use any nitrogen purge in the dry boxes.

The dry boxes themselves have dryers that lower the humidity when the box is powered.

Hi Tyler,

Please send me a drawing of the current purge system, including the source of N2 that you are using.

I will need access to the small cleanroom as well, on Wednesday this week.

Hello,

There is a planned power outage in the EEL building on October 24, 2020 from 7AM to 5PM.

The RICH aerogel is stored in dryboxes in the gowning area of the DSG small cleanroom and relies on power to keep the tiles in a low humidity environment.

Because of the long duration of the outage, the dryboxes should be purged with nitrogen to keep the aerogel dry.

Since RICH is a Hall B detector, Hall B should provide Design Authority-approved set up with a nitrogen bottle, regulator, relief valve, and ability to connect 1/4" gas lines to three dryboxes.

Once Hall B has provided the gas setup, DSG will make the final connections to the dryboxes using feedthroughs leftover from RICH assembly a few years ago.

Best regards,
Tyler
