Hello,

>From meetings, it sounds like we'll plan to repeat the nitrogen and air-cooling distribution set up for RICH-II that was used for RICH-I. Before we proceed with buying things, can someone review set up below, specifically the highlighted items and questions?

Nitrogen (N2) supply set up:

  1. One 1/2" outer diameter (OD) nylon tube for main N2 supply
  2. Main N2 supply line branches off into two 1/2" OD lines at detector
  3. Two lines enter RICH N2 volume, one at the right cable raceway, the other at the left cable raceway
  4. Immediately inside the N2 volume on both sides, there is a small store-brought manifold that splits the 1/2" OD line into ???? 1/4" OD lines of equal length
  5. The ???? 1/4" OD lines are routed down the front panel of the RICH to blow N2 across aerogel tiles
     * 1/4" OD lines are held in place by a specially designed bracket
  6. One bubbler is attached to detector shell through a connector at one of the cable raceways for N2 exhaust

N2 supply questions:

  1. How many 1/4" OD tubes do we want for final, internal, distribution?
     * I seem to remember six from the previous RICH, is this correct?
  2. For the manifold that splits the 1/2" OD line into the 1/4" OD lines, do we have any on hand or left over from RICH-1?
  3. Is there a specific part that should hold the 1/4" OD lines inside the detector? Or adhesive cable mounts and zip ties sufficient?
  4. Should the bubbler connect to only one cable raceway exhaust point? Or should the exhaust mirror the input with exhaust points being on both cable raceways and then tied to a T connection and then the bubbler.

Air-cooling supply set up:

  1. Two ???? OD nylon supply tubes from air-cooling panel to detector with disconnect at detector
  2. One supply line goes to right cable way on detector shell, second supply line goes to left cable way on detector shell
  3. On each side ???? OD supply line continues down cable way to electronic panel (EP)
  4. In EP, the nylon supply lines connect to a stainless steel pipe manifold that directs airflow over electronics

Air-cooling supply questions:

  1. In RICH-1, we used 1/2" OD nylon tubing for main supply lines from panel to detector. What size will be used for RICH-II?
  2. Do we want some sort of disconnect at the detector to make it easier during to move to Hall B?
  3. Should same dimensions from RICH-I air-cooling manifold in EP be used for RICH-II? Dimensional drawing from RICH-I is attached.

General questions:

  1. I know Hall B Engineering is taking care of any changes to the air-cooling panel and N2 panel to accommodate RICH-II. Does this include taking care of providing the piping from distribution panels to RICH (item 1 in both N2 supply set up and air-cooling supply set up sections)?
  2. Is there any plan for air-cooling compressor's water drain in the EEL?
     * Refresher on drain: the compressor's drain is a forceful ejection of water that happens every few minutes while the compressor is running.
     * Last time we used a 5-gallon water jug with a tube connected to the compressor that had to be emptied every morning
     * Would there be a way we can get a "permanent" drain installed, as in something where we don't have to empty a container every day, like a drain line running outside or to an existing floor drain in the EEL?
