[dsg-hallb_rich] RICH S1 update: gas system and EPICS back, but no T or H due to internal power supply failure

Hi Chris,

I just spoke to Marco Mirazita in the counting house about that.

Those interlocks have now been re-enabled, so if either air flow or the pressyre goes away, it will shut down the detector.

Thanks for your help yesterday!

Hi Tyler,

Thank you very much!

The RICH S1 EPICS, air flows, air pressure, and nitrogen flow are back working. They should be viewable in EPICS.
Should we re-enable the interlocks (Air Flow 1, Air Flow 2, Air Pressure 1)?

Cheers,
Chris

Subject: RICH S1 update: gas system and EPICS back, but no T or H due to internal power supply failure

Hello everyone,

A bit of good news but then more bad. Sorry for the long email, the main points are in bold.

Bit of Good:
The RICH S1 EPICS, air flows, air pressure, and nitrogen flow are back working. They should be viewable in EPICS.

More Bad:
The sbRIO controller that reads the digital temperature and humidity sensors has an internal 3.3 V power supply failure.
This status can be seen in the LabVIEW expert screen or with the LabVIEW network shared variable "\\rich2sbrio\network-shared-variables\sbrio-3v3-okay".
The temperature and humidity sensors cannot be read with this failure, so all temperatures are -45 C and all humidity readings are 0%.
The solution is a swapping the hardware controller.

Things were working around 2pm, so I think the 3.3V power supply failure on the controller is more bad luck and an unfortunate coincidence.

It looks like next Wednesday June 11 is a maintenance day. I'll be ready then to swap the sbRIO.
If something happens and the hall is open Monday or Tuesday, I'll take that opportunity to swap things sooner.

Lastly, I can provide more details if needed.
Email is preferred, but my cell is 757-768-5316 just in case.
If I'm not able to answer the phone in time, please leave a message or text me and I'll call back.

I don't think there is much else I can do today, especially since the hall is closed for beam, so I will be headed home shortly since I've been here since 8AM.

-Tyler

PS:
If anyone else in DSG wants to give it a try, the latest version of the program is at the path below and uses LabVIEW 2020 (I've been using the PC dsgcontrols2 but the PC dsgcontrols1 also has it).
