[Dsg-hallc_controls] [EXTERNAL] Re: Controlnet modules

Hi Brad,

This should not be a problem for magnets controls as we are planning on reverting the two Ethernet control modules back to ControlNet modules, most likely on Tuesday.

The Ethernet tags coming from ESR should freeze in the plc. Not a problem.
The Q1 magnet would lose its ability to regulate helium pressure and its valves (it is cold and full of Helium) if it loses communications with the PLC.
Thus the switch back to the standard Controlnet modules.

Thanks
Steven

Hi Steven, et al,

The main Hall C router's connection to the rest of the JLab intranet
will be upgraded on Wed.

During the cutover period (which should be quite short if things go
smoothly), there will be a network interruption for devices
communicating between the Hall C subnets and the rest of JLab.

Note that communications within the SHMS hut (for example) should
continue to work since the network switch in the SHMS hut itself will
remain online. Hiccups are still possible though (ie. DNS may be
briefly inaccessible).

Brent Morris (CNI group) would be the person to talk to if more specific
details are needed.
