Thi,
Thank you for your response.
Any additional information (assembly drawings, parts lists, etc.) would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Peter

I also forget to tell you :
the clearance on the PCB HV is about 2.2mm between two pins.
So the voltage we can apply is 1100V (1mm for 500V)

Dear Peter
I agree than the voltage rating for the SAMTEC connectors is 600 VAC or 848 VDC .
With the wire 20 AWG, the current rating is 7.2 Amp.
In the NPS detector, the power supply is under 900 V and probably near between 600 to 900 V.
the current is very very low < 500 µA or less done by the base made by JLab.
All the connectors , PCB, wires are checked under 1000 Volts DC.
Carlos can explain better than me
Best regards
Thi

Subject: Re: [Dsg-hallc_nps] HV rating of NPS Samtec connectors
Peter:
A number of us are concerned about voltage ratings of the connectors and cables. I plan to talk to Chris Cuevas about this to see if there is a path forward by doing the right kind of testing. Our voltages are certainly above 600 V, which seems to be the voltage rating for the SAMTEC connectors. On the other hand, our currents are very low.
I am trying to understand the full path of HV from tube to the CAEN supplies. Here is what I understand. (I may have some confusion between IPD and PMSD. I think IPD are the connectors, and manufacturer supplied cable assemblies, but I am not sure.)
1. Each PMT has a receptacle for a SAMTEC IPD1-05-S-K connector.
This will deliver the HV and take out the signal.
2. For each PMT we will have a cable assembly with a SAMTEC
IPD1-05-S-K connector on the PMT end, this breaksout into two cables,
one for signal and the other for HV. The signal is an SMA connector
and the HV is a Fisher "S 102 A 018" connector. These cables are
being fabricated by the DSG.
3. Each set of PMT (a column) cables plug into a board with Fisher
receptacles for the HV.
4. This card routes the HV to a set of PMSD receptacles. (Two for
SAMTEC PMSD-15-206-K-D-LUS and one for PMSD-08-206-K-D-LUS.)
4. Ribbon cables with these PMSD connectors on each side route the HV
to a board on the top of the detector frame.
5. Long cables connect from the top of the detector frame to the HV
supplies. Each cable has 36 channels. On the power supply end is a
Radiall connector (recently ordered by Aaron). On the detector side
are two SAMTEC IPBD-15-D-K and one SAMTEC IPBD-08-D-K.

Hello,
DSG is glad to be working on the NPS project.
While working on the procurement of NPS components, we noticed that the HV rating of the Samtec connectors is only 850V. Since the detector will operate at ~1100V, we have serious concerns about the safety and performance of the connectors.
We’ve seen some very detailed CAD renderings of the assembled detector. Are there assembly drawings and manufacturer parts lists available for all the individual cable & board assemblies for the detector? We would like to see these for a deeper understanding of the system, in particular, how the voltage connections are made from the patch panel to the PMTs, e.g. what kind of cables are used inside to make the connections.
We’ve started searching for an alternative connector rated for the detectors operating voltage. If needed, DSG can design new boards or cable assembles or both.
DSG is will do whatever is necessary to ensure the success of the NPS detector.
